How to remove or change background in photoshop

Step: 1

First of all we need to choose  the best  and easy selection tool. For  making selection there are many selection tools which we can use, But for those who are new in photoshop  as a beginner, the best and easiest selection tools are quick selection tool, magnetic lasso tool and magic wand tool. These tools are accurate but takes a bit longer time to complete.

If you want to use quick selection tool you can see it in tools panel on the left side. To use quick selection tool press and hold shift button and " + " button at a time.

Now choose the desire photo which you would like to remove the background by dragging & clicking around the area of the model as shown in photo. If by mistake you have selected something wrong which you don't wanted to select that part, so don't worry about it just press and hold ALT button it will remove the wrong selection. Be careful before continuing more selection on model  press shift button again on your keyboard.

Please don't worry about the hair selection and some other selection like corners, because we can refine them later in next steps i will show you how to do it. If you are satisfy with your selection and work which you have done on your own photo then right click on the photo and click on select inverse.

Step: 2

Go to layers panel and select the add layer mask option button its symbol icon is rectangle in black circle. After selecting layer mask you will see background is finally removed. If it does not look better you can do improvement in it with the help of refine mask tool.

Step: 3

To use refine mask tool, go to layers panel and double click on the mask layer, its black and white photo preview. Now select mask edge in the pop up menu.

Step: 4

If you are still not satisfy with the appearance and want to do some improvement in it, so click on show radius.

if you see nothing here then adjust the radius slider, set the radius slider to a perfect place. You will now see perfect background.

Step: 5

Now to go back to refine mask preview panel. If you don't know how then uncheck the show radius option and you are in preview panel.

If you are still not satisfy with the look you seeing then adjust the layer mask until you like the look of the improved layer mask.

If you want to change the view mode, go to drop down menu as shown in the picture below use the arrows.

Step: 6

If you want to change the background of any photo to different backgrounds, open the background which you wanna use for your photo. Now duplicate the photo layer which you have cut out to attach with the background image.

Now adjust the size of your photo press and hold ctrl + T, if you want to use handles transform then hold shift while you rotate the photo.
